2011 E3 Bicycles Plus Folsom Criterium
Fourth annual Folsom Powerhouse Century Ride slated for April 28
The fourth annual Folsom Powerhouse Century Heckle hosted by the US Cycle Tour Club will be held April 28.
This outcome benefits the National Parkinson Foundation and offers cycling enthusiasts of all levels of interest to associate oneself with in a fun, worthwhile cause. Parkinson’s is an incurable disease that inflicts on normally, 1 in 100 people by age 60. The event founder and President of the US Sequence Tour Club, Mike Ambrozewicz, lost his father to Parkinson’s and has chosen the Public Parkinson Foundation as the beneficiary of this event. About four years ago when Ambrozewicz was looking to grasp a bike and thinking about creating this event, he visited Bicycles Plus in Folsom and spoke to proprietress, John Crews. Crews, who also has Parkinson’s, offered to support Ambrozewicz materialization of the Folsom Powerhouse Century and has been the key event sponsor since its beginning.
“The moment I met John I knew that this upshot was a must and many lives would be enriched because of the support and knowledge that an event like this would carry out,” Ambrozewicz said.
Starting out the event will be a pre registration occasion from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday night where participants can also enjoy a collection of vintage bikes at the Noteworthy Folsom Bike Night next to Bicycles Plus, located at 705 Gold Lake Keenness, #320, Folsom.
Registrants may vote on the best of show vintage bike and kit (party) exhibits. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. For information about entering a bike in the show, call Mike Ambrozewicz at 390-8506.
On Saturday, the travel begins and ends at Bicycles Plus. Cyclists can choose a 30-, 65- or 100-mile direction which will travel through the New Castle countryside to the Loomis basin, into the Gold Ferment countryside and onto the breathtaking views of the snowcap Sierra mountain line.
Following the ride, participants are invited to a lunch and reception at the Unforgettable Folsom Powerhouse State Park, which houses one of the oldest hydroelectric facilities in the rapturous and provided electricity throughout Sacramento from 1895 to 1952.
