i''m torn between an '04 cannondale r800 and an '07 Schwinn fastback comp. both are present for 500 and are in great condition but which one should i buy?
both bike retail for over $1000 but i don't really care about looks because i'm prosperous

What you don't mention is the component set for each bike. When you are looking at used bikes the only likeness is the component

I would buy the Cannondale due to the points that it is not a part of the marketing giant Pacific Cycles. I believe that Cannondale was bought out by Dorel for 200 million dollars in 2007, so that means the 2004 paragon is unaffected and was made by a company

I would go for the Cannondale. The Schwinn doesn't have the most qualified value in the market. Cannondale makes some stiff frames. I would be a little skeptical about the merge quality on the Schwinn.
Also, the 105 group (5500?) on the r800 is probably
